Microbio is developing a diagnostic assay that detects sepsis causing pathogens directly from whole blood in under three hours.
The problem
With multi-site clinical trials approaching and distribution scaling across India, Indonesia and the Middle East and North Africa, Microbio's information was trapped across SharePoint repositories, nested folders and spreadsheets. Finding a document meant knowing who had saved it and where, and answering a regulator's question meant a manual hunt.
That is survivable for a small team in one place. It does not survive four regions and a trial programme.
What we did
- Migrated the estate into a governed lakehouse, so there is one place where information lives and one set of access rules over it.
- Built self-service access for the teams who need documents, removing the IT request from the middle of everyday work.
- Added natural language search across the content, so people can ask for what they need instead of navigating a folder tree.
- Laid the foundation for multi-site trial data, with the structure and controls that later trial and regulatory work depends on.

Our view
This was more than a technology upgrade. Microbio now has the operating infrastructure to grow into a globally competitive, data intensive business, and the trial programme is not waiting on a folder structure to catch up.
